Jammu Tawi, July 21: Sleuths of State Vigilance Organization Jammu led by Dy. SP Mr. Girdhari Lal conducted a joint surprise check (JSC) at GGM Sc. College Jammu on 18.07.2017.
The team landed at the College as per authoritative sources at 10.15 a.m. and departed from the precincts of the College at 7.15 p.m. More than 12 official files of the College record were got Photostat regarding the expenditure incurred out of the special grants released for heritage related matters since this College was declared a heritage College of late. The caretaker Principal of the College Prof. Ranjeet Singh Jamwal of the Dept. of Chemistry rendered full cooperation to the Vigilance team that raided the College on specific inputs.
Dy. SP had confirmed having scrutiny of some important records and SVO will take action under law against the accused. Sources on anonymity said that majority of purchases of the sanctioned amount were made by earlier Principal Mr. Ajeet Angral during his stint at Science College. Angral has recently been transferred to Govt. MAM College Jammu and there at also people in hush-hush tones are talking of the raid.
It shall be apt to inform that one such raid in the College was conducted during the Principal ship of retd. Prof. R. L.Sharma in the year 2006. Mr. Sharma came unscathed because he was not responsible for the purchases ordered by one tainted retd. Director Colleges N. D. Wani. Despite this Mr. Sharma who was on the verge of retirement had to procure NOC from SVO which was readily issued.
Civil society of Jammu comprising of vigilant citizens is keeping its fingers crossed regarding the outcome of the raid. Girdhari Lal Dy. SP is the person who had investigated double drawl scam of POL involving Tara Chand former Dy CM, M. Raju the then OSD to Dy CM and Ors and the matter is being heard at Hon'ble High Court at Jammu.
