Farooq's pro-militant stance part of his vote seeking shenanigans
Jammu, February 25 (KIP):-The National Conference Chief, Dr Farooq
Abdullah, has started smoothening his passage for winning the poll
battle. In this connection he has started wooing militants and
separatists by terming them freedom fighters.
He knows it that he could be fielded as party candidate for
the Lok Sabha by-poll and in case the Congress forged an alliance it
could help him maul the PDP candidate. Hence he thinks that with the
support of militants and separatists his success was certain.
Farooq Abdullah Friday has said militants in Kashmir were fighting
for freedom and hence he has supported Pakistani leaders who claim
that those engaged in struggle are freedom fighters .
“Our youth are not sacrificing their lives for becoming legislators or
ministers but for their rights. This is our land,” Farooq has said.
“These youth have chosen a path and they have promised to God, ‘You
are the sole giver and taker of lives but we will sacrifice our life
for the freedom of this nation,'” he said.
The three-time chief minister and former union minister said New Delhi
had forgotten promises made with the people of Kashmir in 1948.
“Today, a new nation (Jammu Kashmir) is ready, the nation that does
not fear guns, the nation which is out for Azadi,” he said.
Farooq said there was a need to address why Kashmiri youth were picking up guns.
“They are taking up guns for something concrete,” he said. “We need to
look into it and the guns need to fall silent.”
Tracing the genesis of Kashmir conflict to 1931, the NC leader without
naming India and Pakistan accused the two countries of being
indifferent toward the resolution of the vexed issue.
“They (Kashmiri gun-yielding youth) are not enemy of any one, neither
them (India) nor they (Pakistan),” he said. “If situation in Kashmir
has to improve, there has to be a dialogue and peace between India and
