BOSE announces class 10 results for division

Srinagar, Jan 12 (KNS): and Kashmir Board of School (BOSE) on Thursday announced class 10 examination annual 2016 results for Kashmir division.

However, the officials in the Board of School Education (BOSE) said that the toppers for the class 10th examinations will be announced after March exams.

It is worth to mention here that following the uprising in the Valley, the government announced choice for class 10 and class 12 students to appear in examinations, as per their interest, in November 2016 or March 2017.

However, BOSE had made it clear that students who are interested to appear in full syllabus will be given an opportunity to appear in exams of both classes in March 2017.

Over 98 percent students of class 10 appeared in their examinations which were held amid tight security arrangements while the remaining two per cent students will appear in the examination in March this year.

“As per official figures, exams, which had commenced on November 15, 2016, 55500 students out of 56277 appeared in the exams while 777 remained absent,” said one of the officials.

He added that south Kashmir's Pulwama district witnessed highest percentage of students who appeared in exams.

As per the figures, 4613 out of 4656 students appeared in 48 exam centres set up in the district. The percentage of students appearing in exams was 99.07 percent. As many as 43 students remained absent.

He said that Pulwama district was followed by Srinagar district wherein 98.87 percent students appeared in the examination.

Around 8488 out of 8585 students appeared in the district while as 97 remained absent. Government has set up 78 exam centres for the students in the district.

“In north Kashmir's Kupwara district 98.78 percent of students appeared in the exams, 98.73 percent appeared in Ganderbal district,” he added. (KNS)
