Jammu, August 27 (KIP): Will members of the All Party delegation be able to break the ice in Kashmir when they visit Srinagar in the first week of September ? Possibilities do not seem to be bleak because those expected to visit Kashmir are treated by people in the valley having secular credentials.
Yes the success of the All Party delegation depends on the next move of the Government. If the Government is able to launch a crackdown on those inciting people to indulge in acts of violence it would be easy for the All Party delegation members to meet a cross section of people and political leaders freely.
Hitherto since July 8,when militant commander, Burhan Wani was killed 70 people have been killed and several thousand people and 3,000 security personnel injured. This has created a lot of scare among people who fear if they defy the call for shutdown given by separatists they could be attacked.Hence let political leaders and other stakeholders hold talks with members of the All Party delegation in a free atmosphere and without scare.
An all party Parliamentary delegation is likely to visit Jammu and
Kashmir in the first week of September and meet a cross section of
people, amidst the ongoing unrest in Kashmir Valley.
Government will consult all political parties before finalising an
itinerary for the tour aimed at restoring peace in the Kashmir Valley,
which is witnessing unrest even since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen
militant Burhan Wani on July 8.
The move comes after Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced in Srinagar
yesterday that he had asked Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to make
preparation for the visit.
Sources said the visit of the all-party delegation to Jammu and
Kashmir is expected to be discussed when Mehbooba will meet Prime
Minister Narendra Modi.
The facilitation of the all-party delegation to the troubled state is considered to be an attempt by the government to bring the political parties on board of the process initiated to bring peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
