Hurriyat leaders may not be willing to meet interlocutor

Date:

,December 22 (KIP):- Will the separatists meet central
Government's interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma, who is to visit the valley
next week ? Judged by the offensive launched against senior Hurriyat
leader, Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat, who is reported to have met Sharma by the
separatists, belonging to the camps of moderates and hardliners senior
Hurriyat leaders may not venture to have a meeting with the
interlocutor.

Yes, Sharma has plans to meet a cross section of members of the
civil society and mainstream political leaders but the success of his
visit to depends on his meeting with the separatists so that
he is able to get their views on the Kashmir imbroglio. Since during
his last two visits he had series of meetings with senior mainstream
politicians, including the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, NC working
President, Omar Abdullah and other ;leaders from the Congress. This
means that he has received views from one stream of politicians but
whether he is able to get the views from the other side of the fence
is a top question that bothers people in the valley.

The Government of  special interlocutor on Kashmir,
Dineshwar Sharma, is visiting Valley next week and is expected to meet
various delegations during his week-long stay.

Confirming his visit, Sharma said he is coming to Kashmir after
December 24 and is expected to meet people from cross sections of the
society here.
“Yes, I am coming to Kashmir by next week. I will chalk out the
strategy for my forthcoming visit,” he said.

When asked whether he would try to meet the Hurriyat leadership, who
have so far expressed reluctance to meet him, Sharma said, “I will see
what my next Kashmir visit is going to yield. So far I can only tell
you that I am coming and it hasn't been yet decided whether I am going
to meet any specific delegation or group”.(KIP)
