Kolkata: Security at Kolkata Airport has been heightened after Air received a call claiming that there is a bomb on its Guwahati-bound flight.

According to reports, the threat call was received before the flight was scheduled to take off.

Taking preventive measures, the authorities have disallowed boarding after the plane has been taken to an isolated place, where a bomb detection and disposal squad is inspecting it.

The call was made by a woman, who called Air India at 08:20 am and alerted them about a suspected bomb on the 09:30 am flight to Guwahati.

Security was called in immediately and boarding for 114 passengers was stopped.

Security in and around the airport has been put on high alert.

More details are awaited.
