Terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed a sharp 78% rise this year, with 587 incidents reported till December 2, as against 329 in the corresponding period of 2017. Minister of state for home Hansraj Ahir, in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, also said 238 terrorists were neutralised till December 2 this year, against 200 till December 2 in 2017. The number of terrorists killed this year is the highest in almost a decade, with 239 terrorists having been killed way back in 2009. Ahir informed elders that civilian killings in J&K were almost at the same level as last year. While 37 civilians and 86 security force personnel were killed till December 2 this year, 36 civilians and 74 security personnel were killed in the corresponding period of last year. In 2016, 150 terrorists, 15 civilians and 82 security personnel were killed in a total 322 terrorists incidents in he Valley state, Ahir, in written reply to another question, said infiltration attempts dipped to 284 till October this year from 378 in the corresponding period of 2017. Net infiltration however stood at 128 cases till October 2018, as compared to 113 in the corresponding period of last year. Meanwhile, MoS Kiren Rijiju in reply to a question also in Rajya Sabha, said 55 Central para-military force personnel were killed across the country due to firing from across the Indo-Pakistan border and in terrorist and insurgency violence till November 30 this year. Of this, 26 were from CRPF, 22 from BSF, 6 from Assam Rifles and 1 from ITBP.
