:  Jammu and Government today said that no case of ex-gratia for martyrs of Uri attack received so far from the concerned authorities.

 

“The ex-gratia cases in respect of NOKs of Uri attack of 2016 have not been received from the concerned units/authorities so far, in the Home Department,” Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Minister in-charge Home in a written reply has said.

 

The question was raised by BJP MLA Rajiv Jasrotia. She also said that no ex-gratia relief has so far been provided to the NOKs of Chamel Singh, who was killed Lakhpat Jail of Lahore in 2013.

On a question whether compensation paid or announced to be paid to NOKs of Khalid Muzaffar Wani and Burhan Wani, the Minister replied, “no ex-gratia or compensation has been paid to the NOKs of Khalid Muzaffar Wani and Burhan Wani.”

Meanwhile, on ex-gratia to the NOKs of six jawans of Dogra Regiment attained martyrdom in 2015 in Manipur, Ms Mufti replied that in terms of Govt order number 723-GR (GAD) of 1990 read with amendments, the NOKs of only those Army/CAPF personnel who got killed within the territorial jurisdiction of State of J&K in militancy-related incidents, violence attributable to breach of law and order etc including while on leave/inter station movement are eligible for sanction of ex-gratia.

She further said that Rs 1,66,00,000 ex-gratia sanctioned in respect of 77 Army/CAPF personnel killed since January 2015 till date.

On policy, the Minister in-charge said that grant of ex-gratia in respect of killed or permanently/partially disabled directly as a result of violence attributable to breach of law and order/militancy related incidents.

The amount of ex-gratia payable in favour of the NOKs of the deceased personnel in terms of government order is Rs 2-lakh for death of non state subject and Rs 5-lakh for death of state subject, she said.
