Science College Principal dumps RTI matter in dustbin

In brazen violation J&K Right to Information Act 2009, the Principal GGM Science College, Mr. Ajeet Angral, the designated Public Information Officer is virtually sitting over an RTI application dated 07-04-2017 filed by Prof S.K. Bhalla, a resident of Rehari Colony, Jammu.

As per communication no. HE/ RTI/ 2016/188 dated 27-04-2017, the Commissioner/ Secretary to Govt of J&K Higher Department instituted Mr. Angral to provide information directly to the applicant within the stipulated under an intimation to his office as the RTI was originally addressed to Commissioner/Secretary.

When contacted Prof. Bhalla expressed his anguish on the willful delay on the part of delinquent Principal who he said is totally averse to the mandate of RTI Act. He categorically informed that he plans to approach the Higher Education Department for institution of disciplinary proceeding against the principal who is always lax in disposal of RTI matters as per past experience on being inquired by this paper. About the content component of RTI, Prof Bhalla informed that application veered round the record/establishment of GGM Science College and the Principal as usual would suppress the facts as long as he can. Anyhow the applicant is all set to register his protest with the high-ups so that the others who are similarly situated are not inconvenienced in future.
