Sir,
We are constrained to respond to your pointed editorial dated May 22nd, 2017 captioned *“BJP falls in line with Article 370”* which exposes the double speak of BJP on the Kashmir imbroglio. Guided by a survival instinct and in order to keep the trappings of partnership intact BJP or for that matter any other political party can hog an extra mile. In tune with this
spirit there is no wonder with the line of thinking being followed by the Central Govt. Politics makes strange bed fellows is an age old adage.
So far as the question of tackling the mess on the employment front by the un-natural alliance partners is concerned it is a poser riddled with multifarious dimensions. Even if some steps are taken the loser again is going to be Jammu region as the lion's share will be offered on a platter to the unemployed beyond Banihal tunnel. Intensification of anti-insurgency
drive is OK but whatsoever results are being reported on this front is too little and too late as Kashmiri hawks have always been handled with kid gloves. Initiation of various development projects could encourage valley's stone pelters to abjure violence but the neck deep corruption associated with the likely development projects will prove to be a dampener for the projects to be started for the amelioration of the disgruntled youth.
Frankly writing Kashmir issue and Article 370 clubbed together is a game of Chess in which numerous moves have been made and continue to be made by political players. Let us wait for the Report Card of BJP vis-à-vis article 370 and allied matters but this should not be like waiting for godot.
Yours truly,
