Jammu Tawi, Dec 26: A terror associate, Abdul Qayoom alias Bittu, was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) on Thursday for providing logistical support to terrorist groups in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, officials said.
Qayoom, a resident of Kadwah in Basantgarh, was arrested during a police operation targeting terror supporters. He was involved in assisting terrorist organizations by acting as an active guide and facilitator. Several FIRs had been registered against him at the Basantgarh police station prior to his detention.
Authorities, citing his continued activities, decided to detain him under the PSA. This marks the third such detention of a terror associate in Udhampur in recent months. Earlier, on November 29, Abdul Satar, another terror associate from Ponara Soni, was also detained under the PSA for similar offenses.
The police continue their efforts to curb terrorist activities and ensure the safety of the region.
