    Govt Hikes Passport Application Fees, New Rates Effective July 1

    New Delhi, Jun 26: The Centre has revised passport application fees, with the new rates set to come into effect from July 1 following the notification of the Passports (Amendment) Rules, 2026.

    According to a notification issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, the fee for a fresh 36-page passport or reissue of a passport has been increased to Rs 2,500 from the existing Rs 1,500. Under the Tatkal scheme, the fee for a fresh or reissued 36-page passport has been fixed at Rs 5,000.

    The fee for a fresh 60-page ordinary passport or its reissue has been raised to Rs 3,500 from Rs 2,000, while the corresponding fee under the Tatkal scheme has been fixed at Rs 6,000.

    The revised fee structure also increases charges for replacement of lost or damaged passports. A replacement 36-page ordinary passport in such cases will cost Rs 5,000, while the fee for a replacement 60-page ordinary passport has been fixed at Rs 6,000.

    The Ministry said the revised fee structure will be applicable from July 1 under the Passports (Amendment) Rules, 2026. (Agencies)
