School Education for all

Date:

Education is a fundamental right of every child and serves as the cornerstone for individual development and societal progress. It is imperative that all children have access to formal education, and efforts should be made to ensure that this right is protected and upheld for every child, regardless of their circumstances.

In this context, reportedly, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has also shared similar views and has directed all states to ensure that children in the age group of six to 14 years are enrolled in neighbourhood schools and receive formal education.

It is a universal truth that education empowers children by providing them with knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue their goals and aspirations. It equips them with the tools needed to navigate the complexities of the modern and make informed decisions. Forcing the progeny to keep away from schools and formal education is a big in today's world therefore it becomes imperative for states to implement the directions given by NCPCR in the aforesaid context and ensure that under no means, children should remain away from schools.

It is pertinent to mention that NCPCR's directions came after the Uttar Pradesh authorities rescued many children who were being unlawfully transported across state borders. Investigations found that the children were attending an unregistered Madrasa in the Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh. It came to light that they were coerced into carrying bricks, cleaning toilets, and endured physical and mental abuse. In this particular case, the children are deprived of their fundamental rights given under the Constitution of and the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009.

The need of the time is that states and UTs ensure that such exploitation is stopped at all levels and the directions given by the NCPCR should be implemented in and spirit to provide adequate resources to the forthcoming nation builders of the country. By ensuring that every child has access to quality education, the concerned quarters can unlock their full potential and create a more inclusive and equitable society.

It is essential for governments, communities, and individuals to prioritize education and invest in resources that will enable every child to fulfill their potential. By working together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable society where every child has the chance to thrive and contribute positively to their communities and the world at large.
