Jammu Tawi: A woman was killed and two others went missing after a private car skidded off the road and plunged into the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Saturday morning, officials confirmed. The accident occurred around 8:30 am near Khandote village. Three individuals — Ranjeet Kumar (25), and his relatives Beli Ram (60) and Puran Devi (60) — travelling in a Alto car bearing registration number JK06B-2993 when they reaches near Shiva Bridge their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into Chenab river officials said. A joint rescue operation involving the police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local volunteers is currently underway to locate the missing passengers, they added. Authorities confirmed that one person has been confirmed dead, and the search efforts continue to trace the other two. The incident has prompted an outpouring of support from local communities as efforts to recover the vehicle and search for survivors intensify. Further details are awaited.
