Job crisis in India!

Date:

The opposition parties especially Congress party has remained critical against the BJP government over the issue of tackling unemployment in the country because going by the data shared by many sources, there was a time in PM Modi's tenure when the unemployment rate has touched the sky breaking record of last several decades.

As projected by several political parties, the BJP had promised to ensure 2 crore per year. However, according to the Union Minister representing Udhampur Doda Lok Sabha Constituency, after completing nine years in power, the BJP Government has only provided nine lakh jobs. This number is considerably low compared to the promised figure, which is a major reason for people's disappointment and disillusionment. It is worth noting that reports have indicated that the UPA government also failed to fulfill its promise of creating 1 crore jobs, only managing to provide a few lakhs of opportunities for the unemployed.

No doubt, the Modi Government has responded to criticism and initiated Rozgar Melas to distribute appointment letters, highlighting its effectiveness. However, the number of jobs created is disappointing, leaving millions of young individuals feeling unsatisfied. Despite encouraging individuals to become job providers, the success rate in such endeavors is insignificant. Moreover, the prospects for future opportunities are dim, particularly considering that the government's tenure is coming to an end.

Though Union Minister B L Verma has averred that the Centre has distributed job letters to 5.5 lakh youth since last October and aims to provide 10 lakh jobs by year-end, the number is still unimpressive because those who are closely watching the development with regard to employment scenario were having high hopes on the incumbent government, which were dashed badly as helmsman seem to be directionless in creating and providing jobs.

Notably, the Public Information Officer (PIO) at the Directorate of Employment, in response to the RTI application, has revealed that over 8 lakh youth in and are unemployed, with approximately 2 lakh of them being educated individuals.

As far as scenarios in states and UTs is concerned, countrymen have lost hope because in many regions paper leaks, nepotism, and other unfair means have surfaced and in many cases litigations are underway giving shocks to genuine aspirants as governments vows against corruption but on ground this scourge is ruling the roost.

Although today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to the youth, mostly in the security forces, from 45 locations across the country during the Rozgar Mela, the number remains insignificant.

The job crisis in cannot be overlooked or taken lightly. It is not just a statistical issue but also a matter of livelihoods, aspirations, and the overall progress of the nation. The government, irrespective of its political affiliations, needs to prioritize and address this crisis urgently.
