JK police stns, posts under CCTV soon

In a bid to ensure proper monitoring mechanism and quality policing in and Union Territory (UT), the police has floated tenders inviting bids to connect each police station and police post with Close Circuit Television sets (CCTVs).
According to the e-tender floated by the Police Headquarters Srinagar, the e-tenders read that for and on behalf of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (UT), e-tenders are invited for submission of a proposal to Conceptualize, Design and Manage UT-wide CCTV surveillance Project with integrated Command and Control Centre.
According to reports, sources privy to the development said that the bidding of the project is on and will be completed soon. “The project is aimed to increase the surveillance across the UT. Each police station will have CCTV's installed at vital locations and all the police posts will also have CCTVs installed as per the requirement,” the official privy to the development said.

A separate e-tender has been floated by the police for maintenance and commissioning of CCTVs at police post and police stations. “This will cover the repairmen of already installed CCTVs,” a police official told, wishing not to be named. He said that JKP is going to get latest for better policing and CCTV installation at police station and police post levels will help identify criminals, suspects and also play a vital role in investigating the and other cases on fast track basis.
The bidding process will complete by December 31 and procession to cover each police station will start from January onwards. As per the official, J&K have 224 police stations. (KNO)
