Jammu Tawi, July 17: Gunfight raged between security forces and terrorists during a search operation on Monday in Surankote area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
An Army spokesman said that based on specific intelligence a joint cordon and search operation was launched in General area Sindarah and Maidana near Surankote tehsil, Poonch by troops of Indian Army and SOG, Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The operation was in progress when the last reports came in.
On the intervening night of July 16-17, security forces killed two terrorists and foiled a major infiltration bid along the Line of Control in the Krishna Ghati Sector in Poonch district, a defence spokesperson earlier said.
