Goodbye Obama!
Twentieth January today, the Barak Obama will say goodbye to the White House and new President of America will enter after the former leaves. Obama made a phone call on Wednesday evening and spoke to the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi and both leaders reviewed with satisfaction the significant all round progress and cooperation in ties between India and the US in the past few years.
Obama was one of the first leaders to congratulate Modi after his electoral victory in May 2014 and immediately invited him to visit the White House.
The two leaders met each other eight times. This is a record for leaders between India and America. Soaring oratory and strong emotions mark the farewell of US President, Barack Obama. Speaking in his hometown, he strongly batted for his legacy, when he said: ‘By almost every measure, America is a better, stronger place' than when he was elected the first black President of the US in 2008. Expectedly, a long list of his achievements, domestic — tackling recession, revitalising the automobile industry, creating new jobs and in international relations making ties with India closer and stronger. Obama's second tenure saw better understanding and bonhomie between the two countries.
When prompted to sum up his legacy in one sentence, Obama replied, “President Obama believed deeply in this democracy and the American people.”
