GGF pays rich tributes to Mahatama

Gandhi Global Family J&K paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 153rd birth
anniversary at Dewan-E-Aam, Mubarak Mandi, Jammu, where people from all walks of life
participated. Dr. Jitender Udhampuri (Padmashri) presided over the event. The programme
started with a message of  António Manuel de Oliveira Guterres, Secretary General, United
Nations.
On the occasion of International Day of Non Violence, Dr. Udhampuri termed Mahatma
Gandhi as the greatest messenger of peace. He applauded the contributions of Mahatma
Gandhi in promoting peace in the entire South Asia & African continent.
Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma (Retd), President J&K Ex Serviceman League, appreciated the role of
Gandhi Global Family in consistently promoting the Gandhian values among the next
generation in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
G M Saroori, senior politician & former MLA also addressed the gathering & encouraged
youth to join the mainstream by following the footsteps of Mahatm Gandhi.
On the occasion, Mahatma Gandhi Seva Puraskar were presented to individuals &
organisations in the fields of art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade
and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, environment & peace
building.
Amongst the present those who paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi were S. Jaswinder
Singh Kuku Chairman Organising Committee, Pawan Gupta, Co-Chairman Organising
Committee, Mr. Sobha Ram,  Prof S S Bhalwal, Anil Suri, Dr. B L Raina, Mr. Kabir
Chaudhary, Mr. Bishan Das, Dr. Taran Singh, Mr Kuldeep Luthra, Sunita Sharma, Amit
Varma, S Kirtan Singh, Mr Kuldeep Luthra, Sanjay Kundal, Er. Ankush Varma along with
senior officials of Para Military Forces, senior bureaucrats, former ministers, leaders of
various political parties, Principals of various colleges and schools, NGOs, eminent
Journalists, youth and general public participated in huge numbers enthusiastically.
