Jammu Tawi, June 30 (KIP): The Defence Ministry and the Union Home Ministry
are said to have suggested to the troops and the BSF, deployed on the
LOC and on the IB respectively, to devise all possible means for
plugging porous gaps on the border with the purpose of reducing
ingress of militants.
These instructions have gone to the forces following reports
that more than 60 militants have infiltrated into Kashmir in recent
days and some among them were responsible for the Pampore type attack
in which eight CRPF jawans were killed and 22 others were injured.
Troops and the BSF have been asked to take in hand immediate
measures for repairing the border fence wherever it has been snapped
by the infiltrators. They have been told to modernize the daily routine
of carrying forces from one place to the other in convoys. In this
connection the CRPF have been asked to install armour plates in each
vehicle which could act as a safety against armed attacks by
militants. In fact the CRPF is told to emulate the Army and the BSF
that have already installed armour plates on their vehicles.
Troops, deployed on the LOC, have been told to install
additional sophisticated gadgets in areas treated as highly sensitive
for infiltration so that the Army could monitor the movement of
militants in advance and initiate steps for preventing their ingress.
They have been told that they should inform the Corps
Commanders if they needed additional companies of troops which could
act as a human wall against infiltration in the light of reports
suggesting that the Army, the ISI and some Pak agencies were active in
helping groups of militants in sneaking into Kashmir.
Once more militants were able to cross into Kashmir they would
derail peace and that will give an opportunity to Islamabad to rake
up the Kashmir issue in the international fora. (KIP)
