An egg on APD's face
The old man Ali Shah Geelani, who says he is by mistake an Indian and does not believe in the Indian Constitution, humiliated the leftist and socialist parliamentarians by shutting his door for them who always swear by his name and of his cohorts with fundamentalist mindset. Sita Ram Yechury, D Raja, Sharad Yadav and Co had egg on the face who still wanted to trust the most untrustworthy communal tormentor in Kashmir to come around to the talks. Yechury, who wanted to make his own presentation to Left party after their dwindling fortunes, by siding with that ‘Innocent looking youth' in JNU who wanted to “break India into pieces until freedom” tasted a bitter pill when the anti-India Geelani closed the door on the faction of Parliamentarians who sidetracked from the mandate given to them as a joint delegation.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh well in advance declared that some members of All Party Delegation went to see separatist leaders on their own. He held the behavior of the separatists against the spirit of ‘Kashmiriyat', ‘insaniyat' and ‘jamhooriyat.'
Addressing the media before concluding his two-day Kashmir visit here this morning, Rajnath said it had been made clear that those people spearheading the ongoing unrest in Kashmir have to set aside the three principles for which Kashmir is known.
Some Kashmir watchers said that these left over leftists are believed to have an aura of self-importance that hangs over them. A tendency to revel in theoretical quagmires even with distinctive ground realities and more importantly, frequent metamorphosis from extreme rigidity to total flexibility has altogether made them and their claims sound as hollow as a decaying tree trunk.
Centre after much deliberations in both the houses of parliament and after being over-pushed by Congress, Leftists and other opposition members, decided to send the All Party Delegation (APD) to engage the stakeholders to restore peace in the Kashmir valley. In discussions and debates, they exerted more energy in accusing the state for using excessive force and restrictions than the overstretched strike calls of separatists and street violence.
It is well known that if the nation does not turn up for work on a particular day, you can bet that the Leftists are at work. Conversely, if the teeming millions of the country unfailingly meet their daily tryst with their chosen vocations, the obvious inference is that the Leftists are idling in devil's workshops, namely, politburos! It is their way of registering their presence or shall we say, marking their attendance.
The APD was constituted and left for Kashmir Valley on the Mission Peace with zeal and much fanfare. The response they got in Kashmir valley was disappointing as all those who claimed to be the real stakeholders in the Kashmir issue refused to see the twenty-party delegation of biggest democracy of the world. The spirit behind the Mission obliviously got dampened.
Interestingly, the APD was too eager to meet the separatists who are culprits of all that has been happening in Kashmir than the other stakeholders who they simply counted for justifying this, otherwise, a futile exercise. Yet another point in support of APD's bent of mind was that they waited long for the tormentors to lend them ears but they have demonstrated neglecting and contemptuous behavior towards those standing in the queues at Jammu to say a word or two to them on Jammu province's miserable plight.
