DLC-3.0: Over 77 lakh certificates issued to pensioners nation-wide: Centre

New Delhi: The Centre’s Digital Life Certificate (DLC) Campaign 3.0 has made significant strides, with over 77 lakh Digital Life Certificates issued to pensioners nationwide by the second week of its launch. The campaign, aimed at making the pension process more convenient and accessible, is ongoing across 800 cities and towns until November 30.

The DLC initiative, launched on November 6, uses advanced face recognition technology to simplify the process. Over 24 lakh certificates, or 34% of the total, have been generated using face authentication, allowing pensioners to submit their certificates from home, nearby offices, or bank branches.

State Bank of India (SBI) and Punjab National Bank (PNB) have been at the forefront, issuing over 9 lakh certificates by mid-November. Other banks such as Canara Bank and Central Bank of India have also contributed, generating 1 lakh and 57,000 DLCs, respectively.

Maharashtra has led the campaign with over 10 lakh certificates issued, followed by Tamil Nadu and West Bengal with 6 lakh each, and Uttar Pradesh with more than 5 lakh. The campaign is supported by over 1.8 lakh postmen, who are helping to implement the scheme across the country.

The initiative is part of the government’s broader push to digitally empower pensioners and streamline the pension disbursement process. “Jeevan Pramaan is a key part of Prime Minister Modi’s vision for digital empowerment,” said an official statement, highlighting the collaboration of multiple government departments and banking institutions in this effort.

In addition to face recognition, banks have set up dedicated teams to assist pensioners, and mobile apps have been downloaded to facilitate the submission of life certificates. For elderly or ill pensioners unable to visit branches, bank officials are providing home visits to ensure they can submit their DLCs.

With 1,575 camps set up across the country and extensive awareness campaigns in place, the DLC campaign continues to provide a seamless solution for pensioners, ensuring their continued access to timely benefits.
