Jammu Tawi, Jun 28: Security arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra have been significantly strengthened with the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) emerging as the hub of a multi-layered surveillance network to ensure real-time monitoring and seamless coordination among agencies.
Officials said the ICCC, inaugurated in March 2023 under the Smart Cities Mission, will play a key role in managing the pilgrimage, which begins on July 3, by integrating the operations of multiple departments under one platform.
The facility enables security agencies to monitor Yatra routes, base camps and other sensitive locations through more than 610 CCTV and PTZ cameras, allowing round-the-clock surveillance and swift response to any suspicious activity.
Chief Information Security Officer, ICCC, Ankush Kapoor said the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Traffic Police and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) are working in close coordination through the centre to ensure security, traffic management and civic services during the pilgrimage.
He said while the police are monitoring security through the surveillance network, the Traffic Police are regulating vehicular movement and the JMC is overseeing sanitation, parking, accommodation-related assistance and other public services. Pilgrims can also seek assistance through the JMC helpline.
Officials said the integrated platform enables instant information sharing and faster decision-making, enhancing coordination among departments to ensure a safe, secure and well-managed Amarnath Yatra for pilgrims. (Agencies)
