Baramulla: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have arrested a terrorist associate, Showkat Ahmad Bhat, in Baramulla district, officials confirmed on Monday. Bhat, a resident of Kulgam district in south Kashmir, was taken into custody on Sunday from the Janbazpora-Binner road area of Baramulla.
During his arrest, authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and several rounds of ammunition from Bhat’s possession.
Bhat had been reported missing last week from his native village, Naganad in the D H Pora area of Kulgam, raising concerns about his possible involvement in militant activities. The arrest is seen as part of ongoing efforts by security forces to crack down on militant networks operating in the region.
Further investigations are underway to determine Bhat’s links to terrorist organizations and to uncover any potential plans he may have been involved in.
