Committed to fight for restoration of special status: PDP

Date:

Tawi, July 20: Asserting that J&K should be made a bridge of peace and friendship instead of a battleground between the neighbouring countries, PDP on Monday reiterated its commitment to fight for the restoration of special constitutional and legal status of the erstwhile state.

“PDP reiterates its stand that August 5, 2019 was the darkest chapter in the history of J&K,” the party said during a meeting held under the chairmanship of former MLC Surinder Choudhary.

“The manner in which Parliament of was misused to betray people of this erstwhile state by abrogating Article 370 and 35 A and downgrading the state into UT shall always be a blot on the highest democratic institution,” the PDP resolved.

“Our party is committed to the Gupkar declaration where regional parties in J&K had unanimously resolved to fight abrogation of the constitutional provisions that guarantee it special status,” said former party MLC Ferdous Tak as he reminded that all parties had unanimously resolved to be united in their fight to protect and defend identity, autonomy and special status of J&K.
