Biden’s candid statement on Pakistan

Date:

US President Joe Biden referred to Pakistan as one of the most dangerous countries in the that possesses nuclear weapons without any
coherence in what was arguably his most direct criticism of it. The US President criticised both China and Russia during these remarks at a
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Reception in Los Angeles (California).
Biden mentioned Pakistan while discussing US foreign policy against China and Russia under Vladimir Putin. In his final statement, Biden declared
Pakistan to be the most dangerous nation on earth.
‘This is a guy (Xi Jinping) who understands what he wants but has an enormous, enormous array of problems. How do we handle that? How do
we handle that relative to what's going on in Russia? And what I think is maybe one of the most dangerous nations in the world: Pakistan. Nuclear
weapons without any cohesion,” said Biden, as quoted in a White House press release of his remarks at the Democratic Party event.
The Shehbaz Sharif administration's efforts to strengthen relations with the US may have suffered as a result of Biden's comments. At the
occasion, Biden stated that the US has a tremendous opportunity to alter the situation in the second decade of the twenty-first century. So there's a
lot going on, people. a lot of activity. However, the US President noted that there are also several chances for the country to alter the situation in the
second decade of the twenty-first century.
During a private Democratic Party event in California late on Thursday night, Biden made the comments about US foreign policy. The White House
later released a copy of his remarks on Saturday, which incited uproar in Pakistan.
“What I believe to be one of the world's most hazardous countries is Pakistan. The US president has remarked, “Nuclear weapons without any
cohesiveness.”
Although a representative for the White House later downplayed Biden's comments, claiming that the US president wanted a prosperous and
stable Pakistan, the damage had already been done. The message is clear for the Pakistan that it cannot undermine the world perception about the
ground realities prevailing in the country. America may have some strategic compulsion to keep Pakistan in a string but US is well aware of the
calibre and maturity levels of its political leadership who often talk loose on boasting of having nuclear arsenal and its likely use mostly directed
towards .
Pakistan immediately reacted negatively and summoned the US ambassador to Islamabad to clarify Biden's inappropriate comments. Additionally,
he made an effort to downplay Biden's remarks by claiming that they were made at a fundraiser rather than as an official statement and added that
this issue also needs to be investigated.
According to the White House, President Biden's comments regarding Pakistan's nuclear programme were “nothing new” because he has
previously made similar statements.
A “safe and prosperous” Pakistan is crucial to “US interests,” according to Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in answer to a query at a media
briefing. More precisely, Karine said, “That is nothing new about what you heard from him last night. He's made those comments before.”
