Sgr-Jmu Highway opens for one way

Srinagar, Jan 17 (KNS): As valley shiver due to cold waves, the Meteorological department has predicted more rains and snowfall at isolated places in Kashmir in next 24 hours.

“At isolated places in Kashmir there are chances of rainfall in plains and low to moderate snowfall at upper reaches in Kashmir,” MeT officials said.

They said that, “Western disturbances are again approaching valley and more rains and we are expecting more rains and snowfall in upcoming days,” MeT official told KNS.

For next 24 hours

MeT department officials told “From 22-Jan, valley may receive low to moderate rain and snowfall as the strong western disturbances are approaching Kashmir.”

The lowest temperature for Srinagar was minus 3.3 degree Celsius and minus 12.4 Pahalgam and famous ski resort records minus 12.0degree Celsius.

Meanwhile the Srinagar- national highway remains open for one way and for tomorrow the traffic will be allowed form Srinagar to Jammu.

SSP traffic Srinagar Fayaz Ahmad Lone told, that if remains normal the traffic will be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu on Friday.

The Kupwara-Karnah road remained closed for third consecutive days, as the road could not be cleared, the district control said.

The divisional administration has issued weather advisory and avalanche warning for higher reaches. And have told district administration to take all precautionary measures for the safety of public.

District headquarters have setup control room and asked people to seek help.

Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah today made an extensive tour of the district to take stock of the facilities available to the general public following the fresh snowfall.

Meanwhile, to facilitate the general public, the District Administration also issued the helpline numbers: 01932228701, 9797880880 for the convenience of the people regarding snow clearance. As for any other help, people were asked to contact on 9419047052 and 9596422239

Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Muneer-ul-Islam on Wednesday inspected various areas of the district.
