Srinagar, Kargil, Leh districts declared ‘Open Defecation Free’

SRINAGAR: Government on Thursday declared three districts of the State Open Defecation Free (ODF) under the Centre's Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).

This is the first biggest milestone achieved by the State Government under the scheme. Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Abdul Haq declared the Srinagar, and as ODF Districts after the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of Respective Districts presented Declaration Certificates to the Minister in a function organized at S K Convention Centre.

While congratulating the people of these three districts and the officials for working tirelessly to achieve the target, the Minister said it is because of the dedication of the people and the officials alike that helped to achieve the goal.

He said the Swach Bharat Mission has truly become the people's movement as the Government officials, NGOs, Private and Public Institutions, General Public has worked together to achieve the first milestone in the mission. (AGENCIES)
