SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 24: According to a statement issued by the Zonal Police Headquarters , the streets and roads of the valley witnessed a huge rush as there was considerable increase in vehicles and pedestrian movement in Srinagar and other main towns of the valley. Huge queues of vehicles were seen in all parts of the city. Shops remained open. The vendors in huge numbers dotted the chowks and other busy places the press statement said.

“The situation remained normal and peaceful across the valley today. During the day, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the valley”, the press statement said.

The statement said that adequate deployment of police and security forces was made at vulnerable points in Srinagar city, in main towns as also on the roads, lanes and by-lanes connecting different places.

Yesterday evening some unknown miscreants pelted stones and set ablaze a truck at Padshahi Bagh in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bijbehara, resulting in the damage to the truck. The driver of the vehicle was injured in this incident. The injured was shifted to Sub District Hospital Bijbehara for treatment. A case FIR number 265/ 2016 was registered in this regard in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation was started. A manhunt has been launched to arrest the culprits involved in the case the press statement said.
