Militant killed in Kupwara gunfight

Kupwara, Oct 24, CNS: Police on Monday said that a militant was killed in a gunbattle in frontier district of Kupwara.

A police official told that the militant was hiding in the house of one Abdul Ahad Najar and as the government forces received information about his presence, Army men from 18 Rashtriya Rifles, Para-military Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operation Group of Police cordoned off the house and neutralized the militant.

The incident occurred at Warnow area of Lolab valley in Kupwara district. The official said that the militant was a Pakistan . “We handed over the body to local Auqaf Committee who laid the slain militant to rest in native graveyard.

Local sources said that thousands of people amid pro-freedom and anti- slogans participated in the last rites of the slain militant. (CNS)
