The big-budget sci-fi epic ‘Kalki 2898 AD' starring megastar Prabhas has cemented its place as one of the most successful Indian films worldwide of the year. In its second weekend, the Nag Ashwin directorial sailed past the Rs. 700 crore mark globally, consolidating its domination at the box office.
Domestically, the multi-lingual blockbuster added another Rs. 23 crore to its impressive tally on its seventh day, taking its total Indian collection to nearly Rs. 400 crore so far. Though witnessing the usual decline post opening weekend, the film has shown excellent stability with drops of only around 15% each day.
Its Hindi version has been particularly stellar, accumulating over Rs. 150 crore to become the second highest grossing Hindi movie of 2024. Only the Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Fighter' remains ahead. Internationally too, ‘Kalki 2898 AD' is leading the yearly charts, cementing its place among the top worldwide grossers from India.
The big-budget epic has impressed audiences and critics alike with its visual spectacle and intense futuristic storylines. Carrying the hopes of reviving the cinema industry fortunes after a lackluster year, the Prabhas vehicle seems to be more than delivering on expectations. With no major competition in sight and the holiday season ahead, ‘Kalki 2898 AD' looks set to bolster its dominating run over the coming weeks.
