Police arrests LeT militant

Sopore, Aug 10, CNS: A recently-recruited Lashkar-e-Toiba militant was arrested along with ammunition in Sopore area of Baramulla district on Thursday, police said today.

“Today, a joint Naka of Police Sopore, 52 RR and 177 CRPF Bn. was established on Seer Amargarh Road near Railway Crossing Seer Sopore. During Naka checking, one suspected person jumped the Naka and fled to a nearby orchard. Accordingly, the said area was cordoned off by the Police and security forces and the suspected person was apprehended,” said a spokesman.

He said the militant was identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Kanna, son of Mohammad Shafi Kanna of Jamia-Qadeem Sopore.

“One pistol, two pistol magazines, three rounds and four UBGL grenades were recovered from their possession,” said the spokesman.

A case, FIR No.  86/2017 U/S 7/25 A. Act, has been registered in Police Station Tarzoo.

 

“The said militant was part of Lashkar Module in north . Before joining Let outfit, the said militant worked as an active recruiter/OGW for Let outfit in Sopore and other areas of North Kashmir. He was involved in case FIR No. 126/2012 U/S 307 RPC 7/27 A. Act in a Grenade throwing case on Police Station Sopore.” (CNS)
