NMC members to be elected through lottery system on Oct 14: Dr Harshvardhan

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harshvardhan has said that members for National Medical Commission, NMC will be elected through lottery system on 14th of this month. Briefing media in New Delhi today, The Minister said, the entire process of constituting National Medical Commission will be fully transparent and media will also be involved in selection process. He said, NMC will bring historic reforms in the medical education system in the country.

An official in the Health Ministry informed that the moment NMC will come into being, Medical council of India will automatically be abolished. He said, there is also a high possibility that NMC will be able to implement its rules, regulations and guidelines for medical education system from next academic year. AIR Correspondent reports, several measures have been taken to strengthen NMC and following its implementation, separate medical examination for AIIMS and JIPMER will merge into single NEET Examination.
