New Delhi, Mar 17: The Lok Sabha on Tuesday revoked with immediate effect the suspension of eight opposition MPs who were earlier suspended for “unruly” behaviour during the ongoing Budget session.
The decision came after Congress leader K. Suresh urged the House to reconsider the matter. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju moved a motion to lift the suspension, which was passed by voice vote.
Rijiju stressed the need to maintain a “Laxman Rekha” to ensure smooth functioning of the House, a view supported by both treasury and opposition benches. Speaker Om Birla also underscored that placards, posters, photographs, or AI-generated images should not be displayed inside Parliament premises.
The MPs whose suspension has been revoked include Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Hibi Eden, C. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Manickam Tagore, Prashant Padole and Dean Kuriakose from the Congress, and S. Venkatesan of CPI(M).
The eight members were suspended on February 3 after a resolution was adopted in the first half of the Budget session. They were initially barred for the entire session, which is scheduled to conclude on April 2. (Agencies)
