Srinagar, Mar 17: A major fire broke out early Tuesday at the Asal Resort hotel in Pahalgam, Anantnag district, south Kashmir, officials said. While no casualties were reported from the blaze itself, an employee of a nearby hotel died after being hit by a reversing fire tender during the firefighting operation.
The fire engulfed three hotel structures and a vehicle, with multiple fire tenders deployed to bring the flames under control. Officials said the presence of several LPG cylinders at the site complicated the firefighting efforts.
The situation was later contained, but significant damage occurred to three buildings and one vehicle. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, authorities added. (Agencies)
