Labor electrocuted, 4 officials including AEE suspended

Srinagar, Mar 05 (KNS): Two labors while repairing the damaged wires near Budshah Bridge Srinagar were hit by electric shocks when power department suddenly restore the power supply in the area.

One laborer identified as Mushtaq Ahmad of Rainawari died on spot while another one was shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar and his condition is stated to be critical.

Chief Engineer Shahnaz Goni when contacted told KNS that four officials of the concerned sub division have been placed under suspension for dereliction of duty and a departmental enquiry has been initiated to dig out the root causes of the incident.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone told that he has directed Assistant Commissioner Srinagar Sajad Qadri to enquire into the alleged negligence of electric department which resulted in the death of one lineman and serious injuries to another, at Budshah Chowk, Srinagar.
