JMC Commissioner inaugurates plantation drive

Tawi, July 18: JMC Commissioner Mandeep Kour IAS and Roop Avtar Kour IFS, Regional Director Social forestry in presence of Principal Woman College Ms Kiran Balshi , SDM South Sonu Pargal, S P South Sajjad Salaria,  Forest Officer Shiv Dev Singh, Officer JMC Dr Saleem,   Retd Brigadier Uttam Singh Chib & environmentalist Bushan Parimo,   inaugurated the plantation drive  initiated by RTI Activist Balvinder Singh, with the coordination of Red Cross unit of the college headed by Prof Ashique  Mohd. Commissioner JMC Mandeep Kour IAS  and Roop Avtar Kour IFS appreciated the role of Activist  for organizing plantation drive in different colleges of Jammu city. Commr JMC said that JMC is also planning to plant 10,000 plants very soon as trees plays an important role in protecting and preserving the environmental and ecological balance. Regional director Social Forestry Roop Avtar Kour IFS said that plants ensures healthy and hygienic in the surroundings.

Singh said that the purpose of the plantation in the educational institutes is to bring awareness among the students to grow more and more plants for the pleasant and safe environment and to combat the environmental pollution. Others who were present there included S. Sharanjit Singh, Prof Surinder Sharma, Prof Sunil Uppal, Prof Sudhanshu Sharma.
