GGF pays tributes to Nelson Mandela

Tawi, July 18: Gandhi Global Family, J&K youth wing organised a program at Lawrence Public School premises where rich floral tributes were paid to Nelson Mandela by the students & voluntary members of Gandhi Global Family.

The gathering was welcomed by the Lawrence Public School Headmistress, Shivani Joshi who in her welcome address said that Nelson Mandela, is revered for leading the fight against white minority rule in the African country and then preaching reconciliation despite being imprisoned for 27 years. He served as the country's first black president from 1994 to 1999. He left power after five years as President. She welcomed the voluntary members of Gandhi Global Family to the school for celebrating Nelson Mandela's birthday.

Those who spoke on the life of Nelson Mandela on this occasion included Sharmila Mehta, Rajni Jagpal, Vandana Gupta, Mohd Munawar, Asha Sharma, Saloni Sharma, Jyoti Verma, Sonia Gupta, Neetu Singh, Priyanka Dadwal, Rakhi Chauhan, Archana Sharma, Kailash Sharma, Veena Devi. Later a cake was also cut to mark the birthday of this Icon Leader. The vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Amit Varma, Youth Coordinator GGF who advised to mark,  Mr. Mandela's 67 years of public service by spending 67 minutes on charitable services. He also urged people to honour Mr. Mandela on his birthday through individual and collective acts of service. It was also urged that youth across J&K should maintain peace & harmony in this difficult situation.
