JMC & Big-FM unveil ‘Big Plastic Surgery’ campaign

    Jammu Tawi: Jammu Municipal Corporation and 92.7 Big FM have started a month-long campaign called “Big Plastic Surgery”. The idea of this campaign is to motivate people for waste segregation and reduce and gradually refuse the use of single use plastic.
    Dy. Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Adv. Purnima Sharma and Commissioner JMC Avny Lavasa, held a press conference today in town hall and briefed about this initiative. The Dy. Mayor apprised the media of the various programs initiated as part of this campaign including Cleanliness drives, Nukkad Nataks, Workshops, online sensitization sessions with educational institutes and many other activities. The campaign merchandise conveying the message of “Big Plastic Surgery” was also unveiled. Dy. Mayor also informed that JMC is putting up kiosks at ten prominent locations of Jammu city to achieve the goal of making the city of temples free of single use plastic as early as possible.
    Avny Lavasa informed that the corporation has also started sensitization and training sessions of the collection staff in a phased manner so that the waste reaches the material recovery centres in a segregated manner and gets recycled. She also requested people to follow the drive on social media platforms with hashtags like #JammuAgainstPlastic and #ByeByePlastic. RJ Juhie from 92.7 Big FM informed that this is the second season of this campaign ‘Big Plastic Surgery’ and Big FM is proud to have partnered with JMC for this noble cause. She uses her large fan base on radio and her social media platforms to raise awareness on the issue and also make Jammu people take a pledge for litter-free Jammu through her online petition. The dignitaries present in the conference were Chairman Swachh Bharat Committee Yashpal Sharma, Chairman Health and Sanitation Narinder Singh, Joint Commissioner JMC Pankaj Gupta, Secretary JMC Atul Mahajan, Rajat Gupta-Project Manager(IEC), Dheeraj Singh Manhas (Project Manager-2-IEC), Ankush (ZAM-IEC), Vikrant Sharma- Cluster Head North-1 (92.7 Big FM), Siddharth Mahajan- Station Head and RJ Rahul.
