Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma today asked the senior functionaries of JDA, JMC, Revenue, Tourism, Geology and Mining, Flood Control, Police and other departments to initiate joint action against illegal structures and encroachments on state land.
He stated this while chairing a meeting regarding WPPIL No: 19/2012 titled Ashish Sharma and another V/s State and others, WPPIL No. 7/2014 titled Dewakar Sharma and others V/s State and others, WPPIL No.27/2014 titled Inderjeet Khajuria V/s State and others.
The Div Com asked the concerned departments to identify the unauthorized and illegal constructions in the city especially in the catchment area of Tawi river and initiate extensive anti encroachment drive.
The Div Com asked the Geology and Mining department to properly demarcate the auction beds and initiate the stern action against the illegal mining. He further directed for taking action against illegal stone crushers not following the set norms and guidelines
He asked the DIG to prepare a surveillance grid where intercepting and surveillance unit will locate and manpower will be placed.
Taking strong note of negligence, the Div Com directed the concerned officers to take onus of preventing encroachment on state land and orders strict action against the erring officials.
The Div Com instructed the concerned functionaries for maintaining a daily visual evidence of the identified areas and any change in the status that indicates any encroachment or illegal construction shall be dealt firmly. He directed VC JDA to complete the Geo tagging of the areas falls within the jurisdiction of JDA.
The Div Com asked the departments to share the details of illegal structure with police so that necessary action can be initiated and further directed for conducting physical verification of status of illegal encroachments. He asked the JMC, JDA and Revenue departments to nominate officers within their areas to make roundups to restrict illegal construction.
Take legal action against the person who creates hurdle during anti encroachment drives, the Div Com affirmed.
