Traffic on Batote-Doda national highway on Wednesday remained affected
for over an hour after massive landslide and shooting stone in
Kanderi-Nallah of Asser.
The landslide was triggered at around 1pm in Kanderi-Nallah in Asser
of Jammu and Kashmir's District Doda due to heavy torrential rains and
snowfall at higher reaches from past few days.
A senior police officer of traffic department said traffic was suspend
on Doda road for about one hour this afternoon due to heavy landslides
in Kanderi Nallah, but it was cleared and vehicle was allowed to move
ahead on highway road.
“Our men and machinery swung into action immediately after the
landslide to clear the road. Within a few hours, we managed to clear
the road and cleared all vehicles and no one hurt in this episode,”
the officer said.
Landslides were also triggered few other link roads including
Bhaderwah sub-division, but was cleared for one-way traffic by
authorities.
The highway has also been in pathetic conditions due to heavy snowfall
and rains since past few weeks in this region which needs immediate
attention from government.
