Fear gripped Khanbagh area of Labazar, in the outskirts of Srinagar on Thursday morning, when unknown persons hurled a grenade on a Naka party resulting in injuries to Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir and a Seema Shastra Bal (SSB) Jawan.
According to reports the incident occurred on early Thursday morning, when the people of the area were beginning their normal day work; however there was no civilian causality. Eyewitness said that the grenade exploded with a big bang instilling fear among the people, who ran for safety and within seconds the area wore a deserted look.
Immediately after the attack took place, security forces cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation; however there were no reports of any arrests made by the forces.
SHO Lal bazar, J P Singh, however described the blast as mysterious and told that police is investigating the reasons behind the blast and did not comment on any causality or injury having been suffered by anyone.
Meanwhile another grenade attack took place on Pulwama Police Station in Kashmir Pulwama district on Wednesday evening at about 7.30 pm, but there were no reports of any causality in the attack. (CNS)
