    ‘Govt committed to equitable socio-economic dev’

    Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs, Choudhry Zulfkar Ali today said that the government is making concerted efforts to ensure equitable socio economic development of all regions of the state .
    The Minister said this while addressing a large public gathering at Rajouri Underscoring the importance of balanced regional development, the Minister said that it is essential component of government's development strategy adding that the government under dynamic and visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has ensured proportional allocation of resources for equitable development of all the three regions.
    Referring to underdevelopment in the Pir-Panchal region owing to its hilly terrain and lack of sufficient resources, the Minister informed that the flow of resources has consistently increased for ushering new era of development in the region.
    Enumerating development initiatives in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, he said various projects in various core sectors such as Medical College, construction of tunnel on Mughal Road, development of Shakarmarg Project, Budhal-Shopian Road etc are bound to change socio-economic profile of the people.
    Zulfkar also informed that the state government is vigorously pursuing the -Rajouri-Poonch railways projects with the central government for approval.
