‘Mehbooba's visits outside won't attract anyone'

Srinagar, Mar 20 (KNS): Conference President and Srinagar candidate for parliament by-polls, Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday said that friendly ties between the two neighboring countries are imperative to save and .

Addressing party workers here at Nawa-i-Subh, Farooq said, “The friendly-ties between India and Pakistan are imperative to ensure the safety of Jammu and Kashmir.”

“In case the isolation continues between the two countries, the nation is bound to witness any catastrophe,” he said, adding that this nation belongs to everyone and the leaders must get united by the hearts to save it from any catastrophe.

Referring to the poll victories of BJP in the assembly election across the country, Dr Farooq said that all religious communities have to be together to save the nation from the catastrophe.

“If we have to save this nation from the catastrophe and fire which is being sparked in the country, all the people of different religions have to get together. This nation belongs to all communities and religions, not to any single religion. We all have to be together and fight against the fire that has engulfed the nation. All the leaders have to be together,” he said.

Taking a dig at Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Dr Farooq said, “Our Chief minister is begging before to visit Kashmir. I want to tell her that whosoever wants to visit here would visit. Such visits to different state won't yield anything,” he said, referring to the recent visits of the chief minister to Mumbai to woo and tourists to Kashmir.

Dr Farooq appealed to the National Conference voters to make G A Mir, the NC-Congress alliance by-poll candidate for Anantnag seat, successful.

“You (NC workers) will vote and support our candidate, G A Mir, and ensure his win in the by-elections,” he said, while holding hands of GA Mir who was present at the convention.

Earlier, Dr Farooq Abdullah filed the nomination papers for the Srinagar parliamentary seat.

The by-polls for the Srinagar parliament seat will be held on April 09.

Notably, Farooq was accompanied by his son and former chief minister, Omar Abdullah, former MP and senior Congress leader, Tariq Hameed Karra and JKPCC chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir. (KNS)
