There is not an iota of doubt in the fact that every political party having considerable support of electorates holds stake in every election but this time when Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram are going for the polls, the stakes of BJP are quite high and for sure it is a litmus test for the BJP leadership on many counts.
As these elections have been taken as the semi-final of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, it is significant for the Lotus to bloom everywhere to pave the way for PM Narendra Modi's re-election next year. All said and done, any setback in these elections for BJP may prove disastrous. Therefore the contest is going to be cut throat as I.N.D.I. Alliance may pose a tough challenge both in bye polls. A small win of the NC-Congress combo in a scarcely populated and Muslim majority LAHDC Kargil has not relevance to reckon with any possible trend for the coming polls in the rest of five states. Kargil has been a known NC-Congress bastion since decades.
This election although was not that important but it clearly depicts that the path to form governments in the aforesaid five states and of course in the centre is not trouble-free for the BJP because this time many hiccups and hurdles are there to make the aforesaid journeys tedious and uncertain. As far as Congress party is concerned, it has Karnataka win and Himachal victory besides just a token and shared win in remote Kargil Hill Council before going for the aforesaid polls in five states making it a bit confident and full of exuberance.
It is pertinent to mention that the aforesaid states are going for Assembly polls between November 7 and 30, and the counting of votes will be on December 3, making the upcoming days exciting and full of zest and zeal, as main contenders seems to be I.N.D.I. Alliance, BJP and certain other parties including the one being led by Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao viz. Bharat Rashtra Samithi, which is confident for a third straight term.
No doubt the results are bound to have a major bearing on the discourse in the run-up to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's re-election bid next year, and therefore what has been mentioned hereinabove is true to the hilt that for BJP, winning these polls by devastating opposition including INDI Alliance has become crucial and the situation can be well described by the term ‘do or die.'
