Farooq restless when out of Power

The latest statement of Dr Farooq Abdullah calling his party workers to support the Hurriyat and Separatist movement evoked a mixed response for terming him as a laughing stock to his going to any extent to wrest power.

Farooq Abdullah is known for his flamboyant and irresponsible behaviour in his political life. He inherited and enjoyed fully the legacy and chrishma of late Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah and enjoyed the power without much efforts as the edifice of party rank and file made by his father stood behind him against all odds.

The people have seen him deserting the whenever the valley witnessed upheavals and returning back when the things got somewhat settled down. People saw him restless when out of power. He is known for changing political colours from time to time which would suit him and his party's interest.

In 1999 he had forced an alliance with the Atal Behari Vajpayee led Government in the centre that facilitated induction of his son, Omar Abdullah in the union council of ministers as Minister of state.

To suit his interest he forged an alliance with the Congress
for the formation of the Government twice in the state and the last
time it was in 2008 when Omar was installed as Chief Minister with a deal for continuing him for entire six years of tenure despite dissatisfaction within Congress being its major coalition partner.

Now, he has joined hands with Kashmiri separatists in order to realize his dream of Azadi for Kashmir. A few days back he had stated that restoration of internal autonomy was the only way to resolve the Kashmir issue. But now he has joined hands with the separatists saying “I am with you.”

Why this unbelievable change that too when he was fulminating
against the separatists day in and day out? Possibly, he believes that
since the PDP-BJP coalition Government has failed to deliver the goods
and has equally failed to contain turmoil, the scope for early Assembly
election could be bright. This time he seems quite serious because he
does not want to sit in the opposition and he knows it well that if
separatists support the Conference he will win hands down.

But Congress, BJP and the PDP have felt shocked over the change in Farooq's attitude. They say it is for the sake of regaining power otherwise he has no love lost for Kashmiris or Separatists.
