Farooq Abdullah to be NC-Cong alliance candidate from Srinagar LS seat

Date:

Farooq Abdullah to be NC-Cong alliance candidate from Srinagar LS seat
, February 23 (KIP):-If the proposal of the state unit of the
congress is accepted it means revival of old NC-Congress ties. And if
this alliance is forged in that case the NC will get Srinagar Lok
Sabha seat and the Congress can field its candidate from Anantnag LS
constituency.

If all goers well Dr Farooq Abdullah will be fielded by the NC as
the party candidate from Srinagar LS seat and the PDP plans to field
Tasaduq Mufti, Mufti Mohd. Sayeed's son, who joined recently.
In case Tasaduq is not prepared to take the risk the PDP may field Dr
Mehboob Beg.

One thing is certain senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad is
not in favour of Hameed Tariq Karra getting the Congress ticket for
Srinagar LS seat. He is of the view that in Srinagar LS seat the NC
has a strong vote bank and if Farooq Abdullah is the candidate of the
alliance he is sure to defeat the PDP candidate.

The Congress believes that during the recent seven month strife
in which over 90 people lost their lives and scores were maimed and
injured in clashes with the security forces the PDP vote bank has
suffered erosion in south and  the Congress has a chance to
defeat the PDP from Anantnag constituency too.(KIP)
