Actor Dipika Chikhlia became a household name for her role as Goddess Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayanalmost 36 years ago. While Dipika has always been thankful for playing the iconic role of Sita, she didn’t aim to make a career in television. In a recent interaction, Dipika revealed that she had approached Raj Kapoor to cast her in the lead role in his 1985 film Ram Teri Ganga Maili. However, the actor-filmmaker refused to cast her because of her age.

Speaking to a News Channel, Dipika said, “In those days I was doing small second-person roles. I was doing small films as a heroine. But I was not happy. I felt like leaving the industry.
