Death of cancer patient: CRPF orders high level probe

CRPF on Wednesday issued an order for “high-level inquiry” into the death of a cancer patient after his ambulance was stopped at Srinagar highway and was not allowed to move, resulted in his death.
The incident sparked widespread condemnation from all quarters.
CRPF issued a public statement in which they said they are deeply anguished at the sad demise of Abdul Qayoom Banday of Doda.
As per the reports, the person was suffering from terminal illness and while his journey to Srinagar hospital from Doda, his ambulance was “asked to halt” near Lower Munda area on April 10.
In a statement, CRFP has said that their sincere condolence and sympathise with the Banday family for their loss. “We would like to assure the citizens of Jammu and that strict instructions are in place to enable speedy passage to ambulances and ailing civilians.”
The statement claimed that they have called for a high-level enquiry into the incident.
The decision to ban the civil traffic movement on highway were imposed following 14 February attack on a CRPF bus in which at least 40 CRPF troopers were killed.
