Congress pays tributes to Rajiv Gandhi on death anniversary

To commemorate the 27th anniversary of the martyrdom of Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, the Jammu and Pradesh Congress committee organized a “Shradhanjli Samaroh” at PCC HQ Shahidi Chowk Jammu today. Besides several other functions in this connection were also held across the State at different district and constituency levels. A Blood Donation Camp was also organized by Pradesh Youth Congress on the occasion to mark the day as “Balidan Divas”. Around 50 youth Congressmen donated blood in the camp, at Congress HQ Jammu. PCC Chief G.A. Mir presided over the function which was attended by senior leaders of PCC, DCC, Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, and Seva Dal. Paying rich tributes to the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who was assassinated on this day. Mir described him as an architect of 21st Century who brought about digital & IT resolution in the Country. Sham Sharma while paying rich tributes to the great leader described him a great statesman. He said that the two years of MODI Govt. has failed to fulfill a single slogan and promise and it is exposed on its false hood. He also took a dig at the state coalition Govt. as the two coalition partners are pulling in different direction and failed to deliver on any front but still sticking to power. He said Rajiv Gandhi brought about IT revolution, strengthening PRI and empowerment of Youth & Women in the democracy. Former Minister Raman Bhalla in his address paid rich tribute to Rajiv Gandhi and remember his contribution in IT and Panchayat Raj in the country. He described Rajiv Gandhi as a great visionary leader who was devoted to the cause of upliftment of poor and weaker section and strengthened the secular values in the country. He prepared the youth of this country for the challenges of 21st century. Prominent Youth Congress leaders who donated blood includes PYC Vice-President Satish Sharma, Rajveer Singh, PYC General Secretaries Pankaj Basotra, Rajan Sharma, Vinay Sharma, Balbir Singh, Paramjeet Singh, Rashid Malik, Chranjeet Singh Cheeku, Varinder Singh Chib, PYC Secretaries Ricky Dalotra, Anoop Gupta, Spokesperson PYC Chetan Wanchoo &Vijay Hitashi, LYC presidents Th.Hoshiar Singh Chib, Pankaj Sharma, LYC Secy. Waseem Dar, AYC Presidents Gurpreet Singh, Naresh Dutt & Vishu Sharma.
